During that time he has served as a parish priest and pastor in St. Louis and Chicago, taught theology at Newman University and Saint Louis University, served as a university chaplain, and he has been director of Redemptorist formation for the prenovitiate program. I attended St. Bridget Church and School in the East Falls section of Philadelphia. After graduating from St. Bridget School, I went to Roman Catholic High School. Upon graduation from Roman, I continued my studies at St. Joseph University where I majored in English and received my B.A. in 1979. In 1982, I entered St. Charles Borromeo Seminary, and was ordained in 1987 with a Master of Divinity degree.

After ordination, I spent three years as an assistant pastor at St. Bede the Venerable Parish in Holland, PA. In 1990, I was assigned to the faculty of Roman Catholic High School where I served as a teacher of Theology. In 1993, I was appointed School Minister at Roman. In 1997, I received my M.S. degree from Villanova University in Counseling and Human Relations. The following year, I was appointed Director of Spiritual Formation for the Theology Division at St. Charles Borromeo Seminary, a position where I am currently serving.

In the summer of 2003, I received an MA in Christian Spirituality with a certificate in Spiritual Direction from Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska.

Guest Speaker for 2012

Bill Donaghy

Bill Donaghy

Bill Donaghy – Missionary, Theologian and Teacher

Bill began working in the fields of mission and evangelization in the Philadelphia region in 1999. Through his previous work with the Pontifical Mission Societies, he’s given hundreds of talks on the spirituality of mission to young people, sharing his experiences of missionary work in Haiti, El Salvador, and the Dominican Republic, as well as parish and young adult ministry in the United States.

In October of 2000, Bill was chosen to represent his country in a special tribute for the Jubilee of Missionaries in Rome. He was given a simple cross by Pope John Paul II and called by the Holy Father to “bring Jesus back to your country. It was this incredible experience that led Bill to begin the Mission Moment; a teaching ministry dedicated to the New Evangelization. Through talks, retreats, and missions, Bill points to the very core of what we believe as Catholics; to the depths of the encounter, communion, and mission that God is calling each of us to in building “a culture of life” and a “civilization of love,” in the words of Pope John Paul II.

This year we have the distinguished honor to share a prescious few moments of prayer and reflection as we venerate a first-class relic of St. John Neumann. Join us as we learn about his legacy and experience his powerful intercession.

St. John Neumann was a Redemptorist Missionary, fourth Bishop of Philadelphia, founder of the Catholic School System and the first male American saint. The traveling relic of St. John Neumann has been visiting communities throughout the Northeastern U.S. as part of the Neumann Year, which celebrates the 200th birthday.
