- American Legion – Pennsylvania Auxiliary ScholarshipApplicant must be the child of a veteran or of a deceased veteran and have financial need. Applicant must be a graduate of a Pennsylvania high school who is planning to attend a Pennsylvania institution.
- Joseph P. Gavenonis ScholarshipApplicant must attend a secondary school in Pennsylvania and be the child of a Pennsylvania American Legion Member who is in good standing, is deceased, or has been killed or is missing in action.
- Ohio College Opportunity GrantApplicant must be an Ohio resident who demonstrates the highest levels of financial need with an expected family contribution of $2,190 or less and a maximum household income of $75,000 as determined by the FAFSA results. Applicant must be enrolled at an eligible Ohio or Pennsylvania institution.
- Technology ScholarshipApplicant must be a Pennsylvania resident who is a high school graduate with a minimum 3.0 GPA. Applicant must be enrolled in an approved science or technology program at a Pennsylvania school, including community colleges, independent two-year colleges or private licensed schools offering approved programs. The goal of this program is to help address the critical need to educate and retain a workforce of highly trained technology experts that will help Pennsylvania attract and support new employers. Recipients of these scholarships must agree to work full-time in Pennsylvania following graduation, one year for each year that a scholarship award is received. science and technology
- Tony Sparacino Memorial ScholarshipApplicant must be a a self-identified LGBTQ student, or student supportive of the LGBTQ community; currently enrolled full-time at an accredited college or university in Philadelphia; seeking a degree in an art program/major. Come out and represent the Malvern Retreat House in the Annual Philadelphia St. Patrick’s Day Parade!
DATE: Sunday, March 11, 2011
- 9:30 AM. Phila. St. Patrick’s Day Parade Mass (optional) St. Patrick’s Church 20th & Locust Sts. Phila. PA 19103 (it’s Daylight Savings time – turn your clocks ahead).
- 11:00 AM. – Malvern group meets at the North side of JFK Blvd. between 16th & 17th Streets
- 12:00 PM. Parade begins
PARADE ROUTE:
16th and JFK up the Benjamin Franklin Parkway to the Art Museum (1.2 miles)
DRESS:
Dress warmly and for outside weather. (No jeans, no inappropriate logos or messages)
Kilts, top hats, tuxedos are allowed.
Green if you have something, but not required.
NOTE!
The parade is a family event and is being televised live. Alcohol is prohibited.
